Bangladesh Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (BJPMR), Volume 2, Issue 1 (January–June 2026) This issue of BJPMR, the official peer-reviewed, open-access journal of the Bangladesh Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, presents eight articles spanning clinical practice, health services, education, and global health. The issue opens with an editorial positioning Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) as a global health priority in times of conflict, disaster, and chronic disease. A review article then uses problem tree analysis to examine the causes and consequences of rising autism prevalence and its impact on quality of life. Four original articles reflect the breadth of rehabilitation practice in Bangladesh. The first evaluates a pulmonary rehabilitation programme combining education and exercise for people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The second maps inpatient referrals to a PMR service, with stroke the leading reason for referral. The third describes spinal cord injury survivors of the 2024 anti-discrimination movement, most of them young people with gunshot injuries. The fourth identifies the prevalence and predictive indicators of pressure injuries among admitted stroke patients. A case report describes the combined surgical and rehabilitation management of secondary synovial osteochondromatosis of the elbow with advanced ulnar neuropathy and claw hand. The issue closes with a perspective calling for climate change to be integrated into postgraduate PMR education to help build a climate-resilient health system. Together, these contributions show the expanding role of PMR across the continuum of care, from acute hospital services to community recovery and health system preparedness. They also add context-specific evidence from a low- and middle-income setting to inform clinical practice, training, and policy.
